SHARJAH (UAE) — The West Indies are still alive at the T20 World Cup.
In a thrilling cricket match that reached the final ball on Friday, the defending champions defeated Bangladesh by three runs. This was their first win in the underwhelming title defense.
Bangladesh needed 13 runs to win the Super 12s. It only took four runs to get the last ball.
Mahmudullah (the captain of the team) attempted to smash a wide yorker at the boundary, but it was too late and the West Indies could rejoice.
Nicholas Pooran, West Indies wicketkeeper, said that Russell was a big player who executed for us. Russell conceded only nine runs in the last over due to poor fielding which ruined the game for both sides.
Bangladesh ended the tournament on 139-5. They were chasing 143 to win and are almost certain to be out of it after three consecutive losses.

The loss of star batter Shakib al Hasan, a left leg injury sustained while playing field, hindered Bangladesh’s chances of winning. He managed to catch Russell, but he was unable to continue with his 12-ball nine.
Holder made a crucial catch towards the end of the innings. His height was a benefit as he caught one high on the boundary edge and removed Liton Das for 44 runs.
This ended his 40-run stand against Mahmudullah. Bangladesh was robbed of its best batter for the final over. Russell bowled brilliantly.
Mahmudullah stated that Liton’s wicket was crucial as we were both set.
After losses to England, South Africa and South Africa, the West Indies rebounded.
