In Friedland (Göttingen district) a dead swimmer was recovered from the gravel lake on Sunday. Witnesses had previously heard the 36-year-old’s cries for help in the water and alerted the rescue workers, the police announced in the evening. In the afternoon, rescue divers found the man’s lifeless body at the bottom of the water and brought him to shore. It was said that a doctor was only able to determine his death. The exact cause of death was not initially known, and there is currently no evidence of foul play.
