According to a survey, a large majority of the population believes that Germany is well prepared for the coming winter in terms of energy supply. This emerges from a representative survey published by the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW). 64 percent of participants are therefore relatively confident and stated that the supply situation is “still difficult”, but that they would get through the winter “without any major problems”.
18 percent see the supply situation as “very relaxed” and do not expect any problems. According to the survey, only 14 percent expect supply problems in winter. The BDEW surveyed 1,200 people aged 18 and over in September.
Thanks to good interaction between the energy industry and politics, one can be relatively optimistic about the supply situation in winter, said Kerstin Andreae, chairwoman of the BDEW headquarters. The gas storage facilities are already almost 99 percent full today.
However, a full memory alone is no guarantee of problem-free supply. It is too early to give the all-clear: “We are not out of the woods yet. It is therefore important to save electricity and gas this winter too,” said Andreae. A tip from the association: At the beginning of the heating season, check whether one or two degrees less room temperature would be sufficient. “Every kilowatt hour saved not only contributes to a secure energy supply in Germany, but also protects your own wallet.”
