The Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert has presented at the Elche City Council the programmed activities that will take place in the municipality and the cultural director of the institution, Pilar Tébar, has highlighted “the special interest that both the president of the Diputación , Carlos Mazón, like the vice president, Julia Parra, in developing a large program in one of the main municipalities of the province».

This has been ratified by Parra, who has confirmed that “the commitment to increase cultural programming in Elche is not only a declaration of intent, but is clearly included in the calendar of actions drawn up, in which Elche is always present”.

Tébar has detailed during a meeting with the Elche Councilor for Culture, Marga Antón, that between May 15 and June 15 five activities are scheduled in this municipality.

Among the upcoming events, the cultural director highlighted that the IAC will commemorate International Archives Day this year with a visit on June 6 to the Elche Municipal Historical Archive and a paper conservation workshop given on June 7 by restorer Gertrud Gomez.

The guided tour of the Elche archive facilities, located in the old San José hospital, will be led by Carmina Verdú, section chief of this service, who will explain both the organization of the collections and the facilities, as well as the recovery process. This activity of the “Documentary Heritage” cycle will include the display of different documents and reports in the Research room.

Likewise, on June 15, a conference will be held at the Gil-Albert Institute by the director of the Lady of Elche Chair at the Miguel Hernández University, Francisco Vives, on the latest studies of the Lady of Elche that delve into her clothing and jewelry.
