The PP has demanded that the Government enable extraordinary credits to save the Imserso program -before the threat of a boycott by Benidorm, a destination that represents 20% of the places- and allow profitability for hoteliers to be combined with new attractions for this program dedicated to tourism for the elderly.

In a Proposal Not of Law registered in the Congress of Deputies, the popular ones expose the economic data that justify this public investment when the tourist establishments and companies are practically assuming expenses one third higher due to inflation.

One of the signatory deputies, Agustin Almodóbar from Benidorm, has also raised a parliamentary question and has warned that the current offer by Minister Ione Belarra is unsustainable.

“We do not understand the lack of vision of those responsible for the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, much less after two years of the pandemic. Hotel production costs have increased by 30% and, if it was already difficult to cover costs before this, now it is simply unaffordable », he lamented.

It has also warned of hotel closures if there is no price review: «In the last edition of the program there were several hotels that gave up participating or drastically reduced the number of places enabled for the program. And everything seems to indicate that the situation will become unsustainable if the Government does not endorse the demands of a sector suffocated by the increase in costs»

In his opinion, the data is “indisputable”, with a cost per place that is between 32 and 40 euros per night, compared to 22 or approximately 25 euros that hotels can receive through the Imserso tourism program .

“From the Popular Party we have spent the entire legislature demanding a necessary adaptation and updating of Imserso trips so that they continue to be a reference and can meet expectations in optimal conditions for both users and operators participating in the program,” he added. .
