Importaco, a global food company specializing in nuts and mineral water, has achieved a turnover of 721.7 million euros in 2021, 9% more than in 2020. This result shows the increase in the group’s activity and its growing presence in the European markets with the acquisition of Besana in 2020.
The profit was 16.5 million, 11% less than in 2020 (18.4), due to the absorption by the company of the increase in production costs with the aim of not passing them on to customers.
“Our activity in the food market continues to grow thanks to specialization plans in healthy eating. The team of professionals at Importaco has demonstrated this year its ability to adapt to the uncertain situation we are experiencing, which has allowed us to obtain great results.
In 2022 we will continue to maintain our commitment to quality, specialization and sustainability as levers for the company’s transformation,” said Toño Pons, president of Importaco.
The year 2021 has been marked by progress in the strategic pillars of the group: quality, specialization and sustainability. Throughout the year, Importaco has made investments that exceeded 19 million euros. These investments have been dedicated mainly to production centers, 60% to quality, efficiency and specialization projects and 40% to commercial development, digital transformation, people and sustainability. By business, 17.6 million were invested in the Nuts business and 2.2 million in Natural Drinks.
Regarding volumes, Nuts grew 9% in volume, reaching 114.8 million kilos. In Natural Drinks, Importaco reaches the second position as a national company dedicated to mineral water, with a volume of 804.9 million liters, 5% more than the previous year.
