In the land of the storm-proof, liberals had to be particularly down-to-earth on this election night. Otherwise you could have run up the walls in frustration. At first, the FDP campaigners in Lower Saxony could still hope that everything would be fine in the end. That this act of nuclear power, for which they had worked for the past few weeks, was worth it. That the FDP stays in the state parliament – albeit just barely.
But the later the evening, the smaller the yellow bar. At 11:26 p.m. the provisional official final result: 4.7 percent. The FDP is thrown out. It wasn’t even close.
