The azure sky shines overhead, the Mediterranean Sea sends a cool breeze past, insects dance among the leafy green of the vines in columns of sunlight. Our idea of the Garden of Eden could have its earthly origin on the gentle slopes above the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia. “Like on a postcard, right?” says Giovanna Artese. Of course, the 29-year-old winemaker appreciates the fact that she earns her living where others would immediately pitch their tent, build a hut, or spend their vacation.
