In the evenings he sat in a large hall of an even larger convention center. On the ankle-deep carpet were 80 round tables where the German-Asian business elite waited for their food. A local pop group performed a medley beforehand. They started with a well-known Malaysian song, then they suddenly switched to German and say: “Breathless through the night”.
