So much for men of the year: the German “Men of the Year” awards from the magazine “GQ” were more of a women’s award this time. The German Hollywood actress Diane Kruger, the journalist and human rights activist Düzen Tekkal and the British fashion designer Martine Rose were honored. The awards were presented Thursday evening during a gala dinner in Berlin.
Film star Eddie Redmayne and Real Madrid footballer David Alaba had previously been the winners. Hadnet Tesfai hosted the evening in a former multi-storey car park in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
The “Men of the Year” awards from the lifestyle magazine “GQ” are presented in several countries, such as the USA and Great Britain. The German edition of the style magazine has been around for 25 years.
Last year, the frequency of publication of the former monthly magazine was reduced to four times a year. The magazine lives up to its original name “Gentlemen’s Quarterly” (roughly “The quarterly for the gentleman”).
