The Löwen Frankfurt have extended the contract with sports director Franz-David Fritzmeier by three years. The club announced on Monday that his commitment was crowned by promotion to the German Ice Hockey League. “Together with Franz, we have managed to professionalize the sporting area and achieve the long-awaited promotion – the successes achieved speak for themselves,” said Stefan Krämer, managing partner of the Löwen Frankfurt.
The 42-year-old Fritzmeier has completed 376 DEL games and 165 second division games as a player. In 2011 he ended his active playing career and became Oberliga head coach at Füchse Duisburg. In October 2015, Fritzmeier moved to the DEL-Club Kölner Haie to work there as an assistant coach and sports director. From 2016 he worked for the Krefeld Pinguinen as head coach and sports director before moving to the Löwen Frankfurt in December 2017.
