Alba Berlin must continue to wait for a sense of achievement in the Euroleague. The basketball Bundesliga club lost 89:92 (44:52) at AS Monaco despite a good performance.

For Alba it was already the eleventh bankruptcy in the premier class in a row. This means that the German champions remain at the bottom of the table. The best Berlin thrower was Tim Schneider with 15 points.

Coach Israel Gonzalez had to do without the big centers Christ Koumadje and Yanni Wetzell because of a flu infection. It is precisely in this position that Monaco has its strengths. Accordingly, the Monegasque started in a dominant manner and quickly took a 9:2 lead. After that, Alba got into the game better, defended passionately and took the lead for the first time after an 8-0 run.

In the second quarter, however, the mistakes in the Berlin game increased, which Monaco immediately punished with fast counterattacks. So the French runner-up pulled away again. But Alba answered again with a 10:0 run and took the lead again (40:38). But as in the first section, this lead was short-lived.

After the change of sides, the team of ex-Alba coach and player Sasa Obradovic was able to pull away in double digits for the first time (55:44). But Alba fought back in the last quarter. Five and a half minutes before the end they even took the lead again (80:79). Now it was tight until the end. Only with the final siren did Alba concede the decisive three-point throw to the next defeat with the buzzerbeater by Elie Okobo.
